Found myself doing this today. It's kinda fun. I wonder if CSI is hiring. Let's enhance this.
Looking around the city for cool photos reminded me of Matt McCormick's The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal from the Beautiful Losers show at Yerba Buena a few years ago. (The full video is on YouTube, but the artist is promoting the Vimeo excerpt so I'll follow his lead.)
As a non-native, the Sutro Baths, and the entire history of Ocean Beach is completely fascinating.
Great quote from Spots Unknown, that makes a lot more sense after watching the video:
"Part of me now wants to see the whole movie, but part of me just wants to hold in my memory the jarring assembly of clips below as a unified and complete work in itself."
James Cameron answered the question in a recent interview saying he wanted there be an "otherness" to the love story between Sully's avatar and the native alien, Neytiri. Since skin color is "such a big issue on our planet," Cameron decided to use that issue as a thematic driving point. Other skin tones were already taken by humans, while green was already a cliché in other alien movies. "We had big blue women, not little green men," Cameron said.
I gotta admit, I'm getting more and more excited to see AVATAR.
